What a personal collection is
A personal collection is a body of documents, photographs and other materials that reveal a person not only as a statesman but also as an individual: documents from different periods of life, correspondence, awards and mementos. These materials help to see the history of a personality through the events of their life, family, service and formation.
N. A. Nazarbayev’s personal collection is held in the Archive of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Biography of a statesman
The personal collection of Nursultan Abishevich Nazarbayev has been formed since he took office as President of the Kazakh SSR. Its formation stems from N. A. Nazarbayev’s exercise of the powers of Head of State, whose legal status is determined by the Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Constitutional Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan “On the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan”.
The collection was established to preserve the documentary heritage reflecting the governmental, official, sociopolitical, international and other activities of Nursultan Abishevich Nazarbayev during his exercise of the powers of President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The personal collection includes originals and/or copies of biographical documents, creative materials, documents produced in the exercise of presidential powers and in official and public activities, official and personal correspondence, manuscripts of speeches, reports, articles and addresses, photographs, sound recordings, films and videos, electronic documents, materials relating to international activities, documents concerning state awards, printed publications and other materials documenting the life and state service of the collection’s creator.
The documents reflect the principal stages in the establishment of the presidency, the formation of the independent statehood of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the development of domestic and foreign policy. They also have historical, scholarly, cultural and public value.
